As the sequel to the critically acclaimed Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC2), built five years ago, Setia City Convention Centre 2 emerges as a transformative addition to the commercial hub of Setia City. Strategically positioned to front the central park, it creates an open-air ambiance for events, seamlessly connected by a grand staircase to the plaza and waterscapes. This seamless integration emphasizes accessibility and a deep connection with the surrounding landscape.

Architectural Concept by Archicentre

The architectural vision behind SCCC2 transcends the conventional, inspired by the awe-inspiring metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly. Architected by the innovative minds at Archicentre, the building mirrors the scaled patterns and vibrant colors of a caterpillar – green, yellow, white, and black – in its early stages. This creative use of color injects life into what could have been a simple structure, showcasing the journey of transformation from the mundane to the extraordinary.

The hall structure, a combination of reinforced concrete boxes slotted into a large structural steel hangar, features bolt-and-nut joints for efficient and rapid construction. Struts are strategically incorporated to minimize the bulk of the external roof, ensuring a visually appealing aesthetic. The entire design embodies the essence of a metamorphosis, turning an otherwise plain structure into a captivating architectural marvel.

Cladding and Coated Steel Selection

The crucial roofing system at SCCC2 employs a double-skin roof with rock wool and insulation for combined heat and sound insulation. The choice of Swissma SANKO Speed Deck® in Zincalume® Steel as the bottom liner expedites interior fit-out concurrently with the construction period.

The top skin of the roof and walls explode with vibrancy, clad in the lively dance of hues offered by COLORBOND® Steel. Sulphur yellow, veridian, off-white, and cape charcoal black combine in a captivating exterior, injecting an undeniable character into the Setia City landscape. The choice of COLORBOND® Steel, renowned for its durability and tested performance, ensures zero disruption – a critical requirement for a public convention space of this magnitude.
