A Symphony of Islamic Traditions and Modern Engineering

Standing as a sacred landmark in Shah Alam, Selangor, Masjid Al Farinee Denai Alam seamlessly weaves the enduring beauty of Islamic architecture with the precision and aesthetics of modern building techniques. More than just a place of worship, it showcases a captivating interplay of traditional forms and innovative metal roofing solutions, where culturally rich architectural styles are brought to life with modern construction technology.

Weaving Tradition and Modernity:

Completed in 2023, Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor embraced the responsibility of crafting a mosque for the local community, one that upheld Islamic aesthetic principles while incorporating contemporary elements. The resulting design masterfully blends iconic Islamic features - lengthy arches, smooth curvatures, and patterned geometry - onto the hallmark structure of the mosque: the Qubba (dome).

The Masjid Al Farinee's dome, an architectural tour de force, utilizes eight prefabricated segments, each constructed from precisely tapered panels. These segments seamlessly converge upward, meticulously seamed at their edges to achieve a flawless finish. This departure from the conventional hemispherical dome of Masjid Al Farinee presented intriguing challenges. Ensuring structural integrity, weatherproofing, and highly precise craftsmanship for the dome's uniformity and consistency of measurement were foremost concerns. To overcome these, the project utilized the roll-on-site method, meticulously curving steel sheets on-site to achieve the desired shapes. This method offered several advantages:

  • Precise Adjustments: Any curvature discrepancies could be immediately addressed, leading to a flawless finish.

  • Fast Turnaround: On-site roll forming eliminated the need for off-site prefabrication, significantly reducing construction time.

  • Cost-Effectiveness: The streamlined process minimized logistics costs and ensured efficient resource utilization.

Elevating Design with Enduring Confidence

The Masjid Al Farinee Denai Alam's dome, a hallmark of Islamic architecture, demanded a roofing solution that could deliver both flawless aesthetics and superior performance. The KAWA NS 500 Standing Seam Profile rose to the occasion. Its seamless surface, devoid of lapping, not only created the desired smooth curvature but also eliminated the risk of leaks associated with end lap joints. The insulation system with Rockwool blanket and reinforced foil provided exceptional thermal and acoustic insulation, ensuring a comfortable and serene atmosphere within the mosque.

The commitment to longevity and lasting value is reflected in the choice of COLORBOND® Steel for the roof systems, backed by its proven weathering durability and colour stability against harsh climates. Notably, its Clean Technology feature minimizes tropical dirt staining, maintaining the pristine beauty of the mosque's exterior for years to come.

As a landmark of faith and innovation, Masjid Denai Alam seamlessly merges traditional Islamic artistry with cutting-edge construction techniques. Its metal dome, a symphony of precision and elegance, is a proof to the boundless possibilities of architectural design when tradition and modernity come together in perfect harmony.
